Amazing facts about Indian Premier League (IPL)






The Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to begin today with a grand event. The event will witness an array of Bollywood and International stars. Some of the well known names are Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandes, Katrina Kaif, Yo Yo Honey Singh, American singer Chris Brown. The gala event will be starting from 7:30 pm at the National Sports Club of India (NSCI), Worli, and Mumbai.

The eight teams that are participating in IPL are Gujarat Lions, Rising Pune Supergiants, Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad. This year Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions will make their IPL debuts.
On this occasion, we thought to highlight some interesting facts about IPL season 9 and previous seasons.
  • Indian Premier League ( IPL ) established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007 and it’s 1st season began in 2008.

  • Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals have been eliminated from past two years over Spot fixing charges. 
  • Three teams who have won IPL Trophy twice are Chennai Super Kings ( 2013 & 2015), Kolkata Knight Riders (2012 & 2014 ), Mumbai Indians ( 2013 & 2015 ).
  • Till date three teams ( Excluding New teams ) who haven’t won IPL yet are Delhi Dare Devils, Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore
  • Rajasthan Royals were the winners of IPL Season one in 2008.

  • Total Players for IPL Season9 : 182

Winners of West Indies Vs England Contest are L.Phaneendrudu, K.Kishore Kumar, M.Satyaraviteja





It was a big win for West Indies against England. West Indies have made a history by winning the T20 World Cup twice. West Indies needs 156 runs to win against England






The first inning has come to an end. England has scored 155 runs with loss of 9 wickets. Joe Root scored 54 runs in 36 balls and Jos Buttler scored 36 runs in 22 balls.


West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl. The match is held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata

Eng already won T20 world cup in 2010. WI also won T20 world cup in 2012. Since both the teams have won T20 World Cup previously, now whichever team wins will make a history by winning the T20 World Cup twice.

West Indies won the match against England by 4 wickets and won the T20 World Cup 2016. England scored 155 runs with loss of 9 wickets. West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl. England vs West Indies was held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

From England, highest scoring batsman were Joe Root, who scored 54 runs in 36 balls followed by Jos Buttler , who scored 36 runs in 22 balls. From West Indies, highest scoring batsman was Samuels who scored 85 runs in 66 balls.

Till date, England and West Indies have played '13' T20 Matches against each other, out of which, England won 4 and West Indies won 9 matches. In ICC T20I Rankings: WI is on second position and England is on fourth position.
